Quilting Patterns - Winding Path Quilt

Materials: There are just two pattern pieces used for this project which combine to form a square of muslin and dark print. You will need sixteen squares. Eight will be muslin with a dark corner; the other eight, dark with a muslin corner. You will also need two 2 1/2 x 16 1/2 and two 2 1/2 x 20 1/2 inch strips of light print for the border, a 21 inch muslin square for backing and a 20 1/2 inch square of batting.
Piecing: To join the two pieces to form a square, fold each piece in half and mark halfway on each curved seam line. Pin together at the mark. Pin and sew one half; then, the other. Be sure sides line up evenly.
After all sixteen squares are made, decide on the arrangement you prefer. Sew squares into strips of four. Four strips form a complete block. Add border strips along each edge. Assemble backing, batting and top on hand-held square frame.
Quilting: The quilting naturally will depend on the arrangement of the pieces. The photo of Winding Path shows one quilting design. When working other designs, remember you need the quilting close enough to prevent shifting of the batting, but quilting too close will flatten the piece.
Pattern Pieces:

Cut 8 dark, 8 muslin and add 1/4" seam allowance.
