1:   Wrap yarn around finger twice, place 6 sc in loop and pull tighly, making sure you mark the FIRST sc. ( You can also chain 2 and place 6 sc in the 2nd ch from hk, but your beginning circle of sc will not be as snug as with the previous method.)
2:   Place 2 sc in the marked st, 1 sc in ea of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st, and 1 sc in ea of the next 2 sts. Remember to keep moving the marker to the FIRST st you place in the previously marked st. (8 sc)
3:  Place 3 sc in the marked stitch, 1 sc in ea of the next 3 st, 3 sc in the next st, and 1 sc in the last 3 st. (12 sc)
4:  2 sc in the marked st, and 2 sc in ea of the next 11 sts. (24 sc)

SEAM: Fold the two right sides of the heel together now and going through BOTH pieces slip stitch into ea of the 5  sts of this fold over. Ch 1 and then slip st along the inside, back toward the top of the shoe.
Working around the RIGHT side, place 13 evenly spaced Scs down the left side of the TOP section, Split a Sc between the last end of row st and the 1st skipped stitch across the opening. Place 1 sc in ea of the next 6 sts, then split a SC between the last st on the top opening and the row along the right hand side of the shoe.
