Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam
Designed by: Pam Kellogg
Skill Level: Beginner

Designer Pam Kellogg used light shades of Kreinik Braid to create this charming Uncle Sam cross stitch design in a folk art style. You'll love the soft, white-washed look. He?s full of texture and personality (French Knots create a realistic-looking beard on our fine gentleman).

Materials needed

  • Kreinik Fine (#8) Braid in 014 Sky Blue, 032 Pearl, 210 Gold Dust, 332 Candy Cane, 003 Red, and 1432 Blue Ice
  • Cotton embroidery floss as listed in color key (see chart at bottom of this page)
  • 14-count Aida (We used a light tan color) or 14-count waste canvas if you're stitching this design on a garment or tote bag
  • #24 Tapestry needle
Instructions
Cross stitch this design according to the color key. Note that Uncle Sam's beard is done in French Knots to create the effect of a real curly-Q beard. Place the knots randomly and thick for a full effect.
