Tissue Cover


Materials: Fabric - 1/3 yd. each solid and calico: 5" square plastic canvas; 1 1/2 yd. gathered lace; 12" of 5.8" ribbon; polyester fiberfill; sewing thread.
Finished Size: Firs 4 1/2' x 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" tissue box.
Directions:
1. From calico, cut 2 strips 5" x 22 1/2", 2 squares 5 1/2". From solid, cut 2 strips 5' x 22 1/2".
2. Allow 1/4" for all seams. For each tube, sew 1 strip lengthwise, right sides together, leaving ends open. Turn right side out; stuff. Turn raw edges under; sew ends together.
3. Cut 1' x 2 3/4" opening in center of plastic canvas; cut 3/4" x 2 1/4" opening in center of each square for tissues. Place squares, wrong sides together, with canvas between; zigzag together around outer edge and around opening. Sew lace around opening.
4. Whipstitch 1 solid tube around outer edge of top, making square corners. Repeat with other tubes, alternating calico and solid, with seams in back.
5. Sew lace between first and second tubes and third and fourth tubes.
6. Gather a 3" piece of lace to form rosette; tack to front at lower edge of top tube. Make small bow from ribbon; tack to center of rosette.
