~~Size zero~~
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Size 0 is a women's clothing size in the US catalog sizes system, believed to be equivalent to a UK size 4,a European size 32,Italian size 36,an Australian size 4, or a men's size 21.Size 0 and 00 were invented due to the changing of clothing sizes over time (referred to as vanity sizing or size inflation), which has caused the adoption of lower numbers. Modern size 0 clothing, depending on brand and style, will fit measurements of anywhere from 30-22-32 inches (76-56-81 cm) to 33-25-35 inches (84-64-89 cm).
"Size 0" is often used to refer to extremely thin individuals (especially women), or trends associated with them. This usage does not always relate to the clothing size - the "size 0 ban" at the Madrid Fashion Week had body mass index (BMI) as its criterion, not body measurements. The BMI ban was the result of the deaths of models Luisel RamosAna Carolina Reston, and Eliana Ramos. The three had died of eating disorders, and all had BMIs under 16. Other models with low BMIs include Snejana Onopka, Natasha Poly, and Vlada Roslyakova.

~~Size Matters~~
In the past, actress Kate Winslet has opposed digital manipulation of her images. There were reports that serious airbrushing went into the cover image of the UK Vogue of 2007, featuring Kate Winslet. The magazine denied the reports. Some years ago, fingers were pointed at GQ magazine for similar airbrushing of Kate Winslet's images.

Once again, there is a size revolution. The ramp model is changing. There is a new definition of size. Thin is no longer in. It's time for the real women of the world to be counted as the movers and shakers in the world of fashion. Real women are now defining the look of the new-age model.
It all began with one photo shoot! 'Glamour' magazine's model Lizzie Miller though not technically 'plus sized', shocked readers by refusing to be airbrushed. Readers of Glamour instantly identified with the model. From being 'that woman on page 194' Lizzie Miller, has set the ball rolling and rekindled the debate on the ideal size of a woman's figure.
A Uruguayan model, Luisel Ramos, died of heart failure caused by anorexia nervosa while participating in a fashion show. Her parents told the police that she had gone without eating for several days. Should anorexic models be allowed to walk the ramp? Her sister, who was also a model died later on, and in December 2006, fashion designers decided to ban size zero models from the catwalks.
The fashion world went gaga over size zero. Milan, Paris, Tokyo - the catwalks were teeming with pencil thin models. With size zero becoming the fad, models and wannabe models went on a drastic diet and weight reduction regimen, endangering their health. Is size zero the benchmark for beauty? Many polls say that 8 out of 10 women feel that size zero is really sexy and attractive, though they admit that it may not be always healthy. And then, even as the fashion world looked on, size zero claimed its first victim.
While Kareena set off a trend of sorts in Bollywood and urban India, many fashion designers across the country dismissed the size zero concept. Size zero, they said, was an unnatural size for Indian women. And now, according to reports, Kareena has gained a bit of weight and is no longer size zero. Meanwhile, 'Glamour' has decided to take it a step ahead. Their upcoming November issue will have more on plus sized models'. With this glamorous four page cover story on the plus sized models, will the fashion world say goodbye to 'size zero' for ever? We wonder.
