Giant fabric flower bouquet, easy peasy - TUTE

Ok, so here is another of my wedding crafts. Since flowers are more commonly a home item I put the thread here, I hope that's ok.

My bouquet


bridesmaid's bouquet

Materials:
fabric of choice - i used multicoloured gauzy fabric that need ALOT of starch (but it worked) and purple satin dress lining
bamboo skewers - i painted some and all were cut in half
hot glue and gun
MATCHING thread for gathering
You really need another set of hands for this project!


I used the whole width of the fabric to make it a bit easier. The satin was great cause it tears in a straight line but the coloured was a pain. The single layer satin fabric is 12 cm wide and the multicoloured fabric is 24 cm wide.



Iron all the pieces and starch if you want. Firmly press any doubled pieces in half and give them a nice clean crease


I used a sewing machine to stitch the longest straight stitch I could, you can do this by hand but it will take a while. Gather the fabric to about half the original length. DO NOT gather evenly, leave some areas with no gathering and really bunch up others for a unique look. Leave each end ungathered for about 10 cm.


Pick an end and fold the corner down to create a point


Glue the point to the stake about 6 cm from the end


Have someone hold the stake and twirl it as you glue. Wrap the fabric around and around, gluing as you go. Keep it taut. If you want your flowers to have a slightly indented centre, spiral the fabric up slightly as you glue. You only want the end to be about a centimetre higher than the start of the fabric on the stake (does that make ANY sense??) Mine were glued evenly, each time the fabric wrapped around the stake it was directly on top of the last glue line so the ends were aligned.


When you get towards the end fold the fabric again to make a point and continue gluing. Not necessary but gives a neat tucked-in finish.

I just trimmed the fabric on the bottome but you could cover the bases if you like. I didn't have anything suitable on hand and saved my sanity by not pursuing the matter. You may like to trim the stakes further, I did for the bouquet but for a vase long stems are nicer.


And here are the matching boutoinerres for the men, made at half the width and about a quarter of the length of fabric.

These flowers are inspired by an Etsy artist, but the process is entirely my own (and took a while to get right too!). These were made just for me and not for resale. Please do not use my tutorial without my permission or for profit. You know, crafty karma and all that

Decorative sitcks

Materials Required:    
        

• Sticks     -     You can take Broom sticks"tinke wali chadu"
• Brown tape            
• Artificial small Flowers    -     Like tissue cloth 'kali',beads,Petals
• Fabric colors     -     Prefer take bright colors)
• Beads-     -     Different kind (take those beads that easily came in brooms sticks)
• Fevicol            
• Brush            

Method:

   1. Take broomstick; start rolling brown tape on the stick and tie up artificial flowers with that brown tape.
   2. Do above step again.5 times is enough.
   3. Roll down tape with rest of stick.

This completes 1 stick. Other kind of stick is

   1. Color broom sticks with different colors.
   2. When they dry, put beads in them (3-4beads is enough) using fevicol.

      * Give space between flowers and beads
      * If you use silver bead on top, it look beautiful

Paper Vases

Items Required:
Any waste paper like newspaper or old used	-	1 paper
or
note book pages	-	about 20 to 30 pages
Medium sized Balloon	-	1 no.
White Glue	-	10gms

Method:

Blow the balloon to the size of a muskmelon. Tear the pages into strips of 2inches in width and about 8-10 inches in length. Mix the glue with 3tbsp of water and keep it in a bowl. Now dip each strip of paper in glue and spread it over the bottom part of the balloon, keep placing one strip over another to form the shape of a bowl or vase. Keep it in the sun to dry for 24hrs; break the balloon and there u have a nice shaped paper bowl/vase. Cut the edges of the bowl paint and decorate it to your style. You use it to keep dry flowers or even fruits if it is a big bowl.  Alter the size of your bowl according to the size of the balloon.

Wall Hangings

Ingredients :
Winnowing Fan	-	1
Fabric paint / Oil paint
Clock machine

Method:
Take a winnowing fan (Soop (in Marathi), Muram (in Malayalam)). Paint it with either fabric paint or oil paint on both sides. Draw a design on it and just outline the design .U can hang on the edge either shell as I have done or u could get a clock machine fixed by a watch shop and hang item the wall.

Paper Sculpture

Materials Required:

Newspaper Tissue Paper Cardboard Glue Paint Masking Tape Gold Powder

Method:

1. Take newspaper and roll it tightly with a help of a broom stick.
2. now stick the other end so the role doesn't come out
3. Make as many rolls needed
4. Now bend a paper roll to make the torso, 2 hands
5.make a ball of newspaper for the characters head
use masking tape to attach the body parts
6.mix glue with water 1:3 and apply over the sculpture and paste the tissue paper
7.allow it to dry for a day and paint it black
8.take it on the next day and apply gold powder
9.now Ur paper sculpture is ready for display
10.prepare musical instruments or sports article with cardboard and attach it to give a better look.

Wall Hanging made of waste Bangle

Materials Required :
         

• Bangles  (same or multi colored)    -     3 glass 
• Picture card
• Pen
• A pair of scissors
• Fevicol
• Strip of paper
• Piece of wool or ribbon            

Procedure:

Select some picture cards or greeting card. Place the bangle over the picture and mark the outer boundary with a pen. Cut along the line so that you get a round shaped picture. Apply glue on the outer margin and paste the glass bangle. Make three such things. Now place them one above another and stick the paper strip at the back. Attach wool or ribbon for hanging. Wall hanging is ready.

Pen Stand made of Bangle

Materials:

Glass/Plastic bangles, Thin Cardboard, 3D liner of your choice, Glue, 2 or 3 Pen

Method:

1. Place bangles one above the other by gluing it. Let it dry for 1-2 hours.
2. Apply 3D liner of any color over it evenly.
3. Colored stones/Beads can be placed on the 3D liner before it dries. 
4. Glue on cardboard sheet and paste the 3D coated bangle stand.
5. Now your pen stand is ready for use.

Wall hanging made of CD 2

Materials Required :

CD

Fabric colours

Satin ribbon

Decorative pins

Decorative buttons

 
Method :

Waste cd's can be painted with fabric colours with your own patterns and designs. Three such cds can be pasted one by one on a satin ribbon. Some decorative pins or decorative buttons can be pasted on the bottom portion of the ribbon. It can be either hanged on the wall or two decorated cds pasted together can be hanged in the car....

Cradle for Baby Lord krishna

A simple-to-make cradle made from an oatmeal box and either paper or fabric scraps.

Items needed :

You now have a cute little cradle for
     »     An oatmeal box
     »     Scissors
     »     Construction paper or fabric scraps
     »     Glue

Method:

Cut an oatmeal box into the shape of a cradle. Glue the remaining part of the lid onto the cradle.
Glue construction paper or fabric scraps onto the outside of the cradle.
Decorate with paper, markers, or fabric scraps.
You now have a cute little cradle for Baby Lord Krishna.

Roses made of Wax

Materials required :
Wax with 10 percent steric acid added, wick
Red crayon or wax color
A steel plate
A metal bottle cap
Few drops of oil

 

Method:

Melt wax, add steric acid and a small piece of crayon or a drop of wax color. Prepare the steel plate by lightly oiling with fingertips. Pour the melted wax carefully on the plate in a thin layer evenly. Let the wax set for a few minutes, but do not let it harden. Take the metal cap and quickly make circles on the wax.

Now pick up one carefully and roll it tightly. Take another circle and shape it like a petal and press it against the first one. Continue shaping and sticking the petals until you get a rose. Melted wax can be used for sticking the petals and the bottom part of the completed rose.

This takes a bit of practice but the results are superb! A wick prepared by dipping thread in wax and steric acid can be rolled in the first petal to make a rose floater. Please take safety precautions while heating and handling hot wax.

Bread Flowers

Materials :
Bread Slices     -     8
Fevicol

Fabric Colours           
Green Tape
 Broomsticks           

Method :

   1.      We can use leftover bread slices for this flower making.
   2.      Remove the sides of breads and grind it in a mixer finely.
   3.      Take few drops of fevicol add fabric colors add bread powder and mix well and prepare a smooth dough.

   4.      Roll it with chapathi making roller and make a small bud and fix in the broomstick and make thin petals and fix on the bud same way keep it on one another and give a rose shape and use artifical leaves
   5.      Roll the stick with green tape and after dry give a varnish coat and keep in flower vase
      .

Wallhangings made of CD

Ingredients :
›	Waste CD's
›	Glass colors & Liners
›	Some glitters color is yours
›	White M-seal & Fevicryl colors

Procedure:

› First wipe off the CD clean

› Then Using Liner and glass colors Draw any type of the flowers or any other designs on the border of the CD

› Make some flowers, leaves using white M-seal or vinayaka something else (depending upon our creativity)

› Paste the flower leaves in the middle of the CD,then color the flowers using fevicryl colors.

› Another thing completely paint the cd with ceramic colors or something else

› Then draw some designs using glitters and paste any ting in the Cd and hang it

› Superb CD wall-hanging is ready

› We also use the painted Cd's on the festival Karthigai put some Agal on it .It looks very nice.

Crushed Paper Collage

Materials Need :
›     Smooth Crape papers in different co lour
›     Board
›     Gum
›     Bead
›     Poster Co lours



Method :

First draw any picture on the board(eg.Fish, Butterfly) and then cut the Smooth Crape papers into small squares and then crush each squares like small rounds. stick those rounds in the design. If it is a fish stick a bead for the eye. Then co lour the background with poster co lours.

Wall Hangings Ganesha Tray

Materials Required :
›	A round tray
›	Face of ganesha
›	Plaster of paris
›	Clay
›	Copper metallic colour
›	Beads
›	Fabric colours
›	Varnish

Method :
We will take a waste tray like i have a round tray.Then we will take a face of ganesha (it can buy from ther potter ).Then we will wrape the tray with plaster of paris and then we will paste the face of ganesha on the center of the tray.(mixture of plaster of peris for wraping is pop+favicol+water ).When face will stick on the tray then we wiil make some flower with the clay and the make a design on the tray all around the ganesha.Then after drying the whole tray .First we will colour the face of ganesha with metalic colour(copper metallic colour ).Then we will stick some beads for decorate the mukut of ganesha .Then we will colour the rest of the tray with fabric colours.Then apply varnish on the whole tray .Now the tray  is ready then we can hang it anywhere .

Penguin on Bottle

Things Needed :
Tissue Paper    -     2 Rolls
Fevicol or Glue         
Acrilic colours         
An old water bottle          



Method :
Soak the tissue paper in water. Then take out of water. Add fevicol and mix it thoroughly. Then apply this paste to the bottle in a shape of Penguin. Then colour it with the colures you like. Ready! your penguin is ready     

Decorative Ice sitck lamp

Materials Need:

• Ice cream sticks
• Small sand lamp
• Kundan Stone
• Gum
• Glitters
• Maroon fabric colour
• Varnish

Method :

To make a lamp we need 8 ice creams sticks. First take 4 ice sticks and place them nearly with little up and down. On top of it places another 4 ice sticks crosswise in the same way apply gum and paste it. Let it dry. By using maroon colour fabric paint, paint the ice sticks thorougly. Then in the middle of the Sticks, stick the lamp with gum. And finally decorate the ice sticks and the lamp with kundan stone and glitters. Then give 2 or 3 coats of varnish. Now your decorative lamp is ready. It’s very simple to make.

Letter Holder made up of Jute

Material Required:
*	Old jute shopping bag
*	Colored jute Rope
*	Buttons ,Beads,Seashells etc.,
*	Glue and Scissors

Method :
*      Take the jute bag,cut both side portion of the bag
*      Take one piece of that and cut it into two pieces (which is smaller in height of the another piece because we put the letter in to it)
*      Then paste the two pieces one below one into the long piece with some gap
*      We take other color stripe of jute from the bag and paste that piece as a border of the bag we pasted earlier
*      Then paste some beads or somthing into the bag for decorative
*      Put the colored jute rope on top of the holder
*      Now Jute Letter Holder is Ready

Pot Painting-Method 8

Materials Required :
›     Empty box
›     Plaster of paris
›     Clay
›     Fabric Paint
›     Varnish



Method :

    ›     We will take any waste box like i have take a empty box of drink.

    ›     Then we have to wrape this pot(box) with the help of plaster of paris and we wil give any texture with our fingures.

    ›     Then after drying it we will make some flowers with clay and paste it on the pot.

    ›     Then let it dry.

    ›     After drying it we will colour the base with different colour and the design(flowers)will be of different colour(fabric colours).

    ›     Then after drying these colours we will use varnish for shining the pot.

    ›     Then the pot is ready.

M-Seal Boquet

Things Required :

• 1. M-seal
  2. Glue
  3. Fabric Colours
  4. Thin Wires
  5. Green Tape
  6. Glossy spray
       7. Scissors

Method:

For Flowers:

Mix well thoroughly so that both the white part and black part of the m-seal become one grey colour.Take a small portion from this mixture and roll it. Then take a thin wire and bend it into half. Roll the mixture around wire so that the top portion of the wire is fully covered. Again, take a smallm portion from the mixture and roll it and make it like a flat rounded shape. Roll this around the wire and make it like a petal by pulling the upper edges of it. Apply glue at the lower edges to stick it thoroughly. Let it dry for a day.

Take the green take and cover the bottom of the flower
till the end of the wire so that it looks like a stem of a flower.Take fabric colours of your wish and paint it according to your imagination.Let it dry. Apply glossy spray on it to get a glossy effect.

For Leaves:

Take the green tape and cut it into two equal lengths. Apply glue on one and place the thin wire the place the another one on it. Press it with fingers. let it dry. Take the scissors and cut the edges cursively. Now give a bend at the middle of it so that it look like a grass.

Pen Pencil Holder

Materials Required : › Coke tin › Knife › Plaster of peris › Clay › Fabric Colour › Varnish

Method :      ›     First we will take any waste container like i have taken coke tin .      ›     Then we will cut the mouth of tin with the help of knife for making the holder.      ›     Then we will wrap the tin with plaster of peris.      ›     After drying it we will make a dought of clay.      ›     Then we will make some heart shapes.      ›     Then we will paste these heart shapes on the tin all around, as we want the design.      ›     Then after drying these hearts we will make some rose flowers on the hearts.      ›     Then after drying the whole holder.      ›     We will colour the whole pen, pencil holder with different colours.(with fabric colours)      ›     Then we will varnish the holder for shinning.      ›     Now our pen, pencil holder is ready.
